Go to Edit-Preferences-General.
Check "keep iTune music folder organised"
Check "copy files to iTune music folder when adding to library"
click OK and chose iTune.

Then you can make a new music folder in you EHD. Open iTuen again and go to Edit-change-preferences-advanced-change;
Nevigate to you newly created music folder (emply)
and hit OK.
From the Advanced menu, choose Consolidate Library.
Hit Consolidate when the message pops up.

iTune should copy all the files to your new music folder. You will need to delete all the original music files in you hard drive by hand afterwards.

You have to make sure your eternal hard drive has enough space for two sets of files or you will need to put your new music folder in a different location and point iTune to that. You can alway move the library back to the hard drive of your choice anytime but it's a pain.

It worked for me before so it should be ok but the copying did take hours.

Good luck!

Thanks for the instructions.

Im consolidating right now.
The consolidation process has taken over 20 hrs. for roughly 50 gigs of music.
Is that normal?

20 hours for 50g seems long. If it is still running,I would let it finish and see how it goes. I had more than 200g of music to copy and it did take more than 24 hours.

Sometime itune can be a pain and would suddenly decide not to see any files in the music folder even if the path is correct and all the files are in the right place. When you try to play a song, you see "The song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it? Cancel/Yes."

It happens to a lot of people for apparently no reason at all (or I just don't know the reason.)

I tried a couple of things that did fix it. If that ever happen to your itune, I'm more than happy to share my thoughts.

Good luck!

-Paul
