I loved the UE11 generics. Those will likely be my next purchase. IEMs that are more expensive than my car

I really enjoyed them also. However you need a really good amp and source to make them sound their best.

I was sitting with DaveDerek in Headrooms Room and going between the 2000 and the 5000s. With a small portable amp, the 5000s didnt produce that clean bass i was hoping for. I snatched up the 5000s and moved them over to his desktop amp setup and it was a night and day difference. The bass opened up, sounded much cleaner then before. It also had more impact, more carry to the bass tone. The best thing about the 5000s is their closed of course, however they DO NOT sound like they are. They sound really open, not as airy, but certainly not the typical closed sound. Moving over to the 2000 you can tell for sure its closed.

The 5000s seem to be a great can, they have some drawbacks...i didnt like the earpads...i know its soft leather...but all i think of when i look at it is sweaty ear. Sonically they are wonderful. It has a open airy sound that most closed cans just dont deliver. They are a tad bright at times...but nothing like the grado shrill sound.

In no particular order

Woo audio's new two box Woo 6. This amp confirms for me that power supply is he most critical part of an amp. This new two box design is great and powered all comers from grados to k1ks with authority. I would buy this over the modded one box version in a heartbeat. The electrostatic amp is a great way to break into the e-stat world not the last word in power and clarity but a great amp at a nice price.

Eddie Current: It is always a pleasure seeing Craig and it was nice to have him at an east coast meet. He had the ecss and the Balancing Act. 300b or 45 power tubes are user switchable and allow for nice tube rolling potential. The amp sounded great at the meet and is my pick for a balanced amp in the under $4000 pricepoint.

Headamp:Justin had the Blue Hawaii there and damn that amp had the omegas and he90s singing like never before. If you are in the market for a world class estat amp get in while you can I think this is a limited run with just a space or two left.
N_Maher, the Menace amp: this amp is another super clean build and outstanding amp from Nate. It really had my RS1s singing with many amps low end on grados can be a challenge but this amp was solid sounding top to bottom.
Well there is more to come later , thanks to all that attended it really is the people that make these events special and something worth traveling for.

Start saving your pennies for next years International Meet, it is a time you will never forget.
And I thought it was all about the gear.

Hello, HD880. I'm Cable. HD650 Cable.

EDIT: This is all Boomana (Vicki) posting under my name. Not a big deal just needed to point that out.

Same, and these will be my next purchase (the customs), if I don't win the raffle. Figuring out what all to sell now to get those and the Blue Hawaii SE.

Impressions will have to wait. I got home a couple of hours ago after basically a four-day party, NightWoundsTime is here, hanging out until the Radiohead concert tonight, and my house is filled with boxes and a mass of cds everywhere.

I just want to thank tyrion, who basically put this meet together single-handedly, with stray help from the rest of us. His wife and kids even handled the registration table for both days, and I'm sure they had more interesting things to do. Thanks, Mike!

I also want to add that the people who came, vendors and members alike, were a very serious group, willing to stay up until the early hours of the morning for the sake of headphones. Now, that's dedication.

Now it is nap time.

Matt have a good time at the Radiohead concert, was awesome to see you again man. We have to do some mini meets here on the holiday or something. Then we can go out without having to worry about the crowd.

Hey Brian! Sorry you weren't there this year. That DAC is a Moth Audio DAC, which is in fact "retro" given that it is no longer in production.

Oh well, I guess I was too slow for the grawkster! Serious meet highlight was meeting and hanging out with this man, N_Maher and jjhatfield. You guys rule!

Among many other new people offerings at CJ08, it was a true pleasure to meet Ray Kimber of Kimber Cable, whom I believe will be a great friend and supporter of the headphone community. Good chatting with you, Ray, and thanks again for the fabulous IsoMike recordings. Looking forward to hearing them on my own system. I hope you are serious about putting together a headphone audio roadshow for colleges throughout the country because that is a fantastic idea that will ignite lots of people and lots of vendor interest/participation.

So many people and gear impressions rattling around in my damaged brain at the moment that I have to get back to it later.

Cheers all!

DUDE! The headphone jack is on the front for direct listening. You can also use XLR female-to-female adapters to directly drive balanced cans out the back because the volume control works there too. Lastly, yes, you can get female XLR->RCA adapters for cheap at Guitar Center and elsewhere to connect to your Darkvoice. Now CHILL!
