WTB: Mac Computer - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio

Looking to possibly buy a Mac computer in order to use as a music server and try out the Apple OS. Open to laptop or desktop, and prefer a model a couple years old or more (open to newer models if price is right, but if go newer will probably go with a refurb unit from Apple as those prices are hard to beat).

I know we're not supposed to comment in these threads, but I'd recommend cruising eBay for deals. I just picked up a dual G5 1.8GHz Power Mac for $120. I need to add RAM, some big drives and a few other things, but it'll end up around $500 for a very capable music server. The Power Macs are terrific because you can easily add more hard drives to them without scattering external drives and wallwarts around your place. They also have onboard bitperfect optical out.

Mac Mini, Macbook, and iMac may be getting refresh soon, so prices of "last" generation refurbs in Apple Store may go down soon (hopefully, older generation stuff will go down in price even further, too).

how much are you looking to spend?

I have a 15" 2.15 C2D Santa Rosa MBP that I am thinking about selling for the right price. Has 500gb harddrive and 4gb ram.
