Default WTB: Best Portable CDP

Hey peeeps,

I'm looking for a good portable cd player... the old Sony D series? Whatever. My last CD player finally died, and I'm left without any way to portably play CD's (yeah I can rip em to my jukebox... but)... if anyone wants to trade or sell me a good portable player (with a LINE OUT of course), please MSG me.

Thankeee!

Neil

edit: and NO I will not trade my HE60/HEV70 for one LOL!

Old Sony's were inferior to the Panasonic IMO.

Headroom recommended the Panasonic with line outs before they were discontinued - they never recommended Sony.

I have two Panasonics FS -search on this forum.

Later Headroom recommended the iRiver imp Slim-X series.

I own four and will sell one - a like new iRiver IMP400 that I keep with others in reserve in case the ones I regulalrly use fail.

I consider the iRiver superior to the Panasonic, but the Panasonic is quite good. Either are superior to any of the Sony PCDP in my experince with about 8 different brands and over 20 different CD players.

Your system is only as good as its weakest link. When you replace one part, and very obvious improvement is noted, that was your weakest link. FEEDBACK

If you want the "best", try looking for a Sony D-555.

But lately the prices for it on eBay are insane.

If you are willing to go with a more recent vintage (1999-2000 era), look for a Panasonic SL-SX500 on eBay if you can find it. I still have mine, and it works really well even today. It is built quite solid, with an aluminum lid too.

I've read that the best portable player ever made was the Denon CDP-150.

I've also read this. Does anyone have one? How is the battery life?

I ran into a guy that has 3 DCP-150's, he wants $425 for the one in worst condition and $450 for the other 2. It might be good, but its not THAT good. Sheesh. I can think of quite a few home players for $450 used that will outpreform the DCP-150 in every conceivable way. And lets face it with no anti-skip, this player is reduced to a compact home player. Its transportable but not portable. The newer 90's Sony's with line-out seem to be changing hands for much more reasonable prices.

what an argument...so 150 has to be cheaper because it cannot beat a home system in performance???

I second the iRiver... I unfortunately just sold my own SlimX iMP-350. Definitely a great sounding player too, and very solidly built with a million features.

i'm probably going for the Iriver. I used to have one, but I broke it...
when I go portable, I mean portable.. that thing went on planes, buses, boats... and then died.
