Default SOLD: Pioneer DV-578A-S Universal High-Res Player (DVD-A/SACD), under $100

Pictures!

The Pioneer DV-578A-S has been one of my favorite sources ever, but it's time for me to let it go.

Supported Formats
DVD-Audio, SACD, CD, DVD-Video, MP3, WMA. (DivX supported with firmware update discussed in Unlockable Features section).

Audio
It contains three 24-bit/192kHz Burr-Brown PCM1742 DACs, and has the "Burr-Brown sound." I purchased it for its high-resolution playback and it doesn't disappoint. Several people in the Head-Fi community and elsewhere have stated that its audio performance is superior to the current budget favorite, Oppo DV-970HD, which contains Cirrus DACs.

Video
The video chipset is the MediaTek MT1389EE, which is still used in popular DVD players today (including some in the Oppo line-up). The player performs 12-bit / 108 MHz video processing and is very fast--usually there's no wait for layer changes, fast forwarding, track changes, etc.

Connections
The player has 5.1 analog output, an additional 2-channel output, coaxial digital output, optical output, component video output, composite video output, and S-video output.

Unlockable Features
This DV-578A-S contains the stock firmware. If the buyer wishes, I can upgrade to an unofficial firmware that unlocks DivX decoding and makes the player region-free (as well as unlocking a ton of new menu options) for no charge. I've performed this update before and can verify that it works 100%. This essentially makes the player equivalent to the most current models like the DV-588-A and the DV-696AV.

User-Friendly
This is one of the few remaining DVD players that has all of the necessary controls on the faceplate, including a directional selector (see pictures). It's surprising how useful this becomes when the remote disappears!

What does this come with?
In addition to the player itself, the official remote, manual, and box are included (though the box is not in perfect condition).

Condition
The player and accessories are probably a 7/10 on the Audiogon High End Audio Grading Scale. I'm the second owner and the player has been used, but it's still in relatively great condition, and besides, it's the function of the player that's important. Even the Energy Star sticker is still intact.

Asking: $75 + $15 shipping. SOLD!

Feel free to send me a PM with any and all questions!

This might be headed to either Audiogon or eBay, and I'd rather deal with Head-Fiers.

Now accepting best offers. C'mon, you know you want to hear high-res DVD-Audio formats and/or watch DivX and region-encoded movies on your DVD player.

Did I mention that this can be set to PAL output for you European buyers?
