SOLD
Hey guys,
I've collected too many DACs and this one is up for sale. It is a really great classic DAC (read as : $1500 MSRP DAC that really sounds like a $1500 DAC but sells considerably cheaper now that it's not "new" - and most "new" DACs I've heard don't sound that good until you get to the same $1500 price point). I got it from
sacd lover about a month ago,
previous listing.
There are tons of reviews of this unit online, all very positive.
Monarchy Audio Model 33 Reviews
SoundStage! Equipment Review - Monarchy Audio Model 33 DAC and DIP 24/96 (4/2001)
This unit really has it all (with a little addition by me). It can function as a DAC, Pre-Amp and Unbalanced to Balanced converter!
The DAC chips used are twin PCM63s, very musical and sweet to listen to. The I/V stage is fully discrete (whereas most modern units are not and it shows). The line level / pre-amp stage uses opamps but you can skip it if you want, though the pre-amp is very nice and I've used it myself with a high-end GainClone.
Digital Input:
Optical TOSLINK
BNC Coax (can include RCA adapter)
AES/EBU XLR
Analog Input:
2x Unbalanced RCA Pairs (for pre-amp use and unbalanced to balanced conversion)
Analog Output:
Unbalanced RCA from DAC - I/V (discrete output, no volume control)
Unbalanced RCA Pre-Amp/Line-Level (opamps, with volume control)
Balanced XLR Pre-Amp/Line-Level (opamps, with volume control)
Photos coming tonight.
Price is $500 including Priority (2-3 day) shipping and PayPal fees ($475 local pickup).
