Default SOLD: Bel Canto DAC 2 (USB modded)

SOLD

I'm selling my beloved Bel Canto DAC 2. It has served me well, but now I'm switching to an all-in-one DAC+amp setup (Corda Opera) for traveling reasons.

This DAC 2 has been modded so that it takes in either a coax digital signal or a USB input. This was done by integrating an M-Audio Sonica into the DAC 2 case, and soldering the necessary connections. Note that it no longer has an optical digital input.

I am including the original box and manual, as well as a power cable, a USB cable, and a coax cable.

Some of the lettering has worn off from the front and a bit of paint is missing around the top right screw in the front. However, the DAC is in perfect working condition. To be honest, I have my misgivings about selling it since I think its sound is a bit better than that of the Opera's DAC. Still, I need to reduce my system to an all-in-one, so this baby must go.

The original list price for the DAC 2 was $1300. The current version, the DAC 3, lists for a whopping $2495 yet many find it to sound not much different from its predecessor.

I'm willing to let this go for SOLD $710 SOLD shipped within the continental USA. I can ship to other countries for a little bit extra.

Send me a PM if you're interested.

Thanks!

Ok ok ok ok ok ok ok stomp bumping...

Forget the original list price of 1495... what was the actual retail price YOU paid for it? Did you pay tax? Did you have a warranty?

Does it still have a valid warranty and if so how long? Does it perform exactly the same or better than when you bought it? Does it look exactly the same or better than when you bought it?

Did you do the USB modification yourself? If not, who did it? What kind of EPROMS make it recognizable as an audio device by both Mac or PC? How much extra did the USB modification cost?

These are all things I need to know and would take all into consideration before purchasing an item secondhand. I have learned the extreme importance and value of warranties many times, and unless I was getting an extreme steal, I wouldn't purchase one without a warranty.

So fill me in, sir, if you would, please.
Thankies!!!

I bought it used on the internet.

Since I am not the original owner, there is no valid warranty to my name. Should the need arise, however, it is possible that Bel Canto would be willing to provide service for the DAC. But that is just speculation on my part. Hopefully, there would be no need for the warranty; source components usually just sit there in a corner and do their thing.

As far as I can tell, the performance is exactly the same as when I bought it. The looks are as you see them in the photos above.

I performed the modifications myself. Basically you have an M-Audio Sonica hardwired into the Bel Canto DAC-2 housing. If the M-Audio Sonica works on the Mac, then so will this DAC.
