Up for sale to Australia buyers is the spectacular new
y1 DAC. To connect the DAC to an amplifier, I am including a
Blue Jeans Cable MSA-1 mini-RCA interconnect, length 60cm. The DAC is one of two that I built as part of a
group buy organised by fordgtlover. I built two in the possibility of having a desk rig at both home and work, but am now moving to Canada for work and need to sell one to help fund the move. The DAC has just ~50 hours of burn-in and listening on it...... and when coupled to a quality headphone amp it does indeed sound awesome with my ATH-AD900 and ATH-ESW9.
For those unfamiliar with the y1 DAC, it is a small desktop DAC - NOT a portable! This particular one is the full build with multiplexed USB, coaxial and toslink inputs, which means you can connect all three inputs at the same time, and select the input with a toggle switch on the front panel. When you have a lock the switch glows green, no lock and the switch is red. The DAC can be powered by heavily-filtered USB power, or by an external 5V plugpack (not included, but if you want one I can organise it) - the DAC autoswitches between the power sources. I have used the pre-machined faceplates from
AMB's group buy, and Silmic/Wima output caps. Audio output to an amplifier is via a 1/8" mini jack, which is what the BJC MSA-1 cable is for
The DAC is a truly awesome little product - I don't think it currently has any competition in either the DIY or commercial world. Something like the Pico comes close, but the y1 has much more flexibility in the inputs, a true line-out, and is quite a bit cheaper. Because the y1 is very new, here are some opinions from various Head-Fi'ers:

In summary, the y1 hits WELL above its weight class. You will not find a better DAC in a similar footprint at such a low price.
Cost:
y1 DAC plus cable: AU$SOLD - this is LESS than it would cost you to buy and ship all parts to Australia, let alone the difficult SMD soldering! If you want to use the DAC away from a computer, just let me know and I will investigate additional power options that I can include at-cost.
Shipping: AU$20. This covers registered and fully insured postage anywhere in Australia. Buyer will eat PayPal fees for credit card, but there is no extra for PayPal direct deposit. NO E-CHEQUES! If you are in Perth, PM me and we might be able to organise cash payment and pickup or delivery to save shipping.
