IC: CAL ALPHA DAC--Timeless Classic
I just bought a Bel Canto DAC2 on Agon--trying to keep an open mind to SS vs. Tubes and from everything I have read, the BCD2 is a good place to start.
So, It is likely that my Cal Alpha (NOT24/96; and its depends what system, circuit and audiology you have whcih is the better--I prefer 24/96, my audiophile son bass player prefers 18 bit--which is the one for sale).
Anyway, it would come with GE5751 3M Blackplate 1957, which of ALL the 5751/12AX7 I have tried, do this DAC the most justice.
I would be looking for $500 in consideration of the GE 5751 blackplates--if I can dig up the original Chinese tubes that came with the DAC (I think I can) then it would be $450 + shipping. For the money GE 3M BP CANNOT BE BEAT!
Trades for a GOOD SS Headamp considered--like a GS-1 and cash or a Corda 2 MK2. But please, no offers for a Gilmore Lite, no Chinese stuff, MrX or Mr-XYZ, or even the Stello stuff or Heed. Thanks. A Rudistor would be a different story, hybrids or the 12AU7 kits.
