In January I purchased the Spitfire DAC along with its optional Supplier PSU from FireStone-Audio for $376.30. I immediately purchased two Burr-Brown OPA627's to replace the stock OPA2604, this upgrade including the single to dual adapter from Brown-Dog cost approximately $50, for a total new value of $426.30.
I am selling the combo for
SOLD shipped, which is over $170 cheaper than what I paid six months ago.
The upgraded OPAMPs improve the sound on all levels, from bass extension to detail to neutrality.
Here is a review of the DAC done by gerG, without the upgraded OPAMPs. I know there is a ton of hype around the Zhaolu right now (there's always something hot), but there are other Asian DACs worth having and this is one of them.
