Pacific Valve Lite DAC AM Modified
The DAC AM from Lite Audio is just about everything you would want in an over-sampling DAC:
Headphone jack, volume control, sample frequency indicator , balanced outputs, RCA outputs, Coax, Toslink and AES EBU inputs switch- able from the front.
The DAC AM uses analogue devices newest chip, the AD 1853. The AD1853 is a complete high performance -chip for digital playback. It is comprised of a high performance digital interpolation filter, a multibit sigma-delta modulator, and a continuous-time current-out analog DAC section. The AD1853 is fully compatible with all known DVD formats and supports 48 kHz, 96 kHz and 192 kHz
sample rates with up to 24 bits word lengths. It also provides the “Redbook” standard 50 us/15 us digital de-emphasis filters at sample rates of 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz.
The Headphone amplifier has front panel volume control and accepts standard headphone input.
The DAC AM modded upgrades and changes the following discrete components:
Changed all four Fair Child NE5532 OP AMPs to AD827s
Changed out 3 stock caps in critical signal path areas to ELNA caps Changed 6 resistors in critical signal path areas to Vishay RA resistors
These changes bring the DAC AM very close in performance to the DAC 68. You will notice increased detail in the midrange, more neutral mid bass. The high end is smoother and the upper midrange is neutral.
