Default FS: Empirical Audio Modded Monarchy 48/96 DIP Upsampler/USB/Superclock

For sale is a pristine condition Monarchy 48/96 DIP with Empirical Audio mods, including USB input and Superclock3. Unit operates perfectly and has no cosmetic defects. Price is $550 all-in (shipped to CONUSA, insured, and i eat the PP fees).

In addition to the stock Monarchy DIP (itself, a fantastic upsampler), you get the EA mods, which include:
  • Power supply improvements - FREDs in place of rectifiers
  • Power delivery improvements to the upsampling chip, including Black Gates
  • Output S/PDIF driver circuitry redesign - new pulse transformer
  • Modded Superclock3
  • USB interface and eliminating the Toslink input
  • Redesign of the S/PDIF input to improve jitter
  • Sheet-metal work for USB

As modified, the inputs include: USB and BNC or RCA coax with a select switch (USB interface is M-Audio Transit based, drivers included on CD and also easily downloadable for free from M-Audio website) and the outputs include BNC or RCA coax. BNC to RCA adapters WILL be included.

This unit can be used as either a USB transport for computer-based playback, or a jitter reducer (from the digital coax input) as it has a quite good clocker.

The stock unit cost appx $200. The EA Mods cost as follows: Monarchy Mods($500), USB interface ($325), and Superclock3 ($450). So total cost as modified was appx $1,500.

Selling because I bought a Wavelength Crimson USB DAC, so no longer need this unit.

Will ship double boxed to withstand nuclear attack. Includes stock power cord and M-Audio driver CD.

Price is $550 all-in (includes shipping in CONUSA, insurance, and any PP fees).
