Default FS: Denon DCD-1500 CDP w/remote

Note: I am not the seller of this CD player.

This is a Denon DCD-1500 CD player. This player originally retailed for almost $600 player in 1986/87, today you can find these used for $100 or less. You could spend up to $400 today on a new player and still not buy another CDP that sounds better than this Denon.

Nice one-owner example with remote and owner's manual. This one appears to have been well cared for since new. You might find one for less money but anything up to $100 for the player with the remote and original owner's manual is a good deal.

Very well made older (late 80s) single disk CD player. Full function display and programming via front panel controls with duplicate controls on remote. Features both fixed and variable RCA outputs. Also features a older (non-standard) digital output port.

The Denon DCD-1500 is a very smooth analog sounding player with deep strong bass, excellent midrange, great soundstage. Uppermost frequency reproduction not as transparent as more modern chipsets/players. Current chipsets can offer a more transparent top end, but for everything else the Denon kicks butt with outstanding bass, midrange, soundstage, ambience recovery and warmth. Well recorded/mastered CDs sound like analog on this player.

Has a built-in headphone amplifier circuit connected to a 1/4 inch headphone output jack (with separate volume control) rated to deliver 70mw @32 ohms. Can drive high impedance phones such as HD-580/600 with good bass. If you are on tight budget you can use the headphone output of this player and save up for a dedicated headphone amplifier later.

If you decide to bid on this and wind up winning the auction, make sure the seller installs the needed transport screw (either the original transport screw or a suitable replacement) in the bottom of the chassis before attempting to ship this player. The original transport screw is normally stored in a bracket on the underside of the chassis, just behind the front left foot. If this transport screw is missing, you can substitute a metric screw size m3x70. A small washer can be used to hold the head of the screw against the bottom of the player.
