Default Withdraw--I desided to keep the player!

British Ariston CD1 CD player. Considered one of the best players in the world in the early 90s. It has CDM4/19, TDA1541A(s1), and specially desinged power supply. Op-amps have been upgraded to OPA627BP (4 of them). I have a heavily modified Art Dio (upgraded diodes and power caps, Linear op-amp, upgraded power supply, Dale resistors, disabled ADC section, directly-soldered cables , and more). Using CD1 both as a player and a transport at same time, I find the sound coming out of CD1 to be of much high quality, especially regarding imaging and depth. Subjectively, I would say that CD1 is a very musical player.

My player is in excellent working condition and reads my CDRs without any problems. CDM4/19 has recently been checked by a technician and is in good condition. I would give my player a cosmetic rating of 90%. No remote is included.

A recent CD1 without remote and any Op-amp upgrade was sold in Taiwan for 13500 Yuan (=$400) + shipping. My asking price is $210 with free shipping to the lower 48 states. I will also ship my player to Taiwan and Mainland China for an addition fee of $40.

Please email me at mhan@oberlin.edu for pics and more info. I don't have any feedbacks, since this is the first time I sell my gear here. I live near Cleveland and I welcome you to audition this player.

Note: It is suggested on the player that the transport should be removed during shipment. I will do it for you at your request.

Price Drop.

If you are sincerely insterested, email me an offer. I am not hungry for money, but just the right compensation to let a fine piece go.

Default I would be very interested in your Ariston...

...as I have been thinking about going back to a CD player instead of the DVD player I have been using. I know Ariston by reputation - their turntables. I like British gear in general. I expect to have some money coming in in a few weeks, or would you consider a trade, say Senn 600's?
Keep in touch if you hear from no one else...

Thanks.

This is the only cd player Ariston made (there are some cheap ones now with borrowed name) and, from the careful design and materials used, it's not hard to see that Ariston was aiming at making the best player at the time. Compared with my Art Dio and a just-bought brand-new Samsung HD841, this player is miles ahead. It does not just define every detail transparently, like the other two, it also presents the entire atmosphere of the recording, which very much reminds me of the vinyl sound. (Too bad I sold my Sony Biotracer turntable)

The reason I am selling it is because I think that it's not good for me as a student to have such an expensive player -- I should be satisfied with HD841+Art Dio. If I were to trade with you, I would then have to sell your HD600 (I would love to have them, but they are also "out of my league). So I do prefer cash. There are two people contacting me now. But if I don't make a sale, I will keep in touch with you.
