As is the case with my Apogee Mini-DAC, I haven't used this soundcard much since the arrival of my Headamp Pico. It makes a great transport, as it has AES/EBU, coaxial SPDIF, and toslink outputs, all of which work simultaneously (so you could compare three or more DAC's without having to switch cables, for instance). It also has pro-quality DAC and ADC sections, both of which use unbalanced TRS connectors.
I have upgraded the analog output (DAC) section in several ways: the stock output coupling caps have been removed and replaced with Blackgate non-polar capacitors, which offers a more direct and detailed sound. The stock output opamp has been removed and replaced with an AD8066, which offers a highly detailed sound, with the most neutral balance of all opamps I've tried on this card. It is augmented with a high-speed power capacitor.
Also included is an upgraded AES/EBU breakout cable, using Mogami 110ohm cable and a Neutrik X-HD XLR connector. The cable is about eight feet long. You'll also receive the stock coaxial SPDIF breakout cable.
