The unit is 2-yr old, accepts input from USB or BNC coax, selectable with switch and will output to BNC coax (the AES/EBU output is disabled as part of mod).
The Monarchy/EA DIP allows you to use your computer as your transport - a very good one.
Along with the Empirical mods, it will also make an existing transport sound better also as it outputs true 75ohm via its BNC coax. $650 shipped.
This unit only outputs 24/96 so make sure your DAC accepts 24/96. It is transit-based and the driver can easily be downloaded from M-Audio.
