SOLD: Stax SRM-1 Mk2 Pro (Pro and Normal Bias) B-series (56K beware) Price drop
I'm thinking of selling my Stax SRM-1 Mk2 Pro (Pro and Normal Bias) B-series electrostatic amplifier. It has very nice sound that is better than the A-series I previously sold. But I've upgraded to a Woo GES Maxed with Pro and Normal bias jacks and it will be here in just a day or two (Shipped last Friday).
I've reviewed this SRM-1 vs the GES and SRD-7 Pro in the big Stax thread where I found with the HE60 that the SRM-1 was at least 90% as good as the Woo GES prototype I was borrowing (which I later bought but then traded the prototype for credit towards a Maxed). I felt that with SR-Lambda Signature and SR-003 that this amp was closer to 95% of the GES: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/4485159-post7483.html
It is set for 117v but can be changed to 100, 220, or 240v from the back panel without opening the amp. It has minor scuffs or scratches on the top and on the volume knob, but it has functioned perfectly for me over the past several months. I had not used it since the Colorado Head-fi meet at the end of July (when 20 people listened to it), so I hooked it up yesterday to listen a little before I take pictures and sell it, therefore it is a little dusty in the photos but it still works very well. As a vintage item this is very old, so it is sold as-is. If you get it and break it, it's still yours. I will insure it for $400 in case the post office or UPS breaks it or loses it. Any money I get for it is to pay down the credit card bill on a $2490 GES with upgrades.
I would like $sold shipped within the CONUS, add $20 for Hawaii and Alaska, but add $40 for international (covers time and gas and insurance for Priority Mail International, as well as the pain in the butt factor for customs forms). I do not tack on extra paypal fee charges, and if the difference is not too much I might upgrade to Express Mail International at my discretion. I reserve the right to pick a buyer out of order from how the offers come in, based on feedback and level of participation on head-fi.
If you buy the amp (and if my SR-5 are not already sold) for an extra $100 I can include an SR-5 electrostatic headphone (white with silver trim); which sounds very good, but it takes 2-4 minutes for the right driver to fully charge up and reach normal volume levels. The amount of time to fully charge depends on how long it has been since it was last used, and may be as short as 20-30 seconds if used on the same day. If you need an additional SRD-5 speaker amp transformer box for your spare rig, I will throw that in for free if you buy the SRM-1 amp and the SR-5.
Thanks for looking!

Not a bump, exactly, but I heard this amp at HeadphoneAddict's place the other night, and it sounded truly excellent.
The normal bias jack is not to be overlooked, since normal bias Lambdas can be regularly had for cheap, and many agree that they sound better than their pro counterparts. That $700 system will cream any conceivable $700 dynamic system.
