I am selling my Portaphile V2 headphone amp, which I purchased directly from Cesar 3 years ago. This is the original V2, before he began offering the V2^2 (squared). It thus does not have the internal switches or adjustable gain (gain is set at 5, which is a good compromise, allowing use of both high- and low-impedance phones).
It was the demo unit used for reviews; Cesar checked it out thoroughly before I bought it and it has been a stellar performer. The main advantage of the demo status is that the caps are fully burned in (200 hours + are required to get this amp to its full potential).
It does include the Black Gate NX caps, which deliver awesome sound. It also has the portaphile signature 3-channel design (3xAD8610 opamps & 3xBUF634 buffers). It also has much better battery life than the V2^2 model (I believe I was getting about 15-20 hours or more when I used alkaline 9V batteries -- I have not tested it recently with the NiMHs I use now).
This amp produces extraordinary detail and precise bass impact. It far outpaces the iBasso D2Boa I now use, but alas it does not have a DAC and I can't justify keeping 2 portables.
The only issue I can see with it is that the blue LED is intermittent. It has no effect on the sound, and I believe Cesar will fix it for a very small charge. There are also the usual minor scuffs on the plastic rings on either end -- no gouges or dings in the body however.
