I'm currently planning on taking my speaker system in a different direction, so I'm trying to sell my current gear. The last piece I have left is this preamp, because I've been using it in my headphone system!
The asking price of
$325 USD will include all packaging and shipping fees to the lower 48 states (we could work something out for other places), as well as two sets of solid silver (4N, I believe) DIY interconnects that were made for me for use with this preamp (I don't have pics, but could get some if you need). They were fantastic when I used them to hookup my source and amplifier to the Foreplay, but don't work as well with my all solid state headphone system.
You can get to tube rolling right away, since I'm going to include 3 pairs of tubes with different sound signatures. I use the Bugle Boys, which have been excellent on my system: very clean, with plenty of detail and no discernible midrange muddiness. There is a lot to say about this preamp, and what's included, so feel free to email me for more info, but I'll list them here to help:
I have the following upgrades on this preamp:
-C4S constant current source
-"Anticipation" active load upgrade
-"Sweetest Whispers" stepped attenuators
-Auricap capacitor upgrades
-DC power to tube heaters (power adapter included)
-Separated power supply, using silver-plated copper wiring, with grounded metal chassis
The following old stock 12AU7 tubes are included (pairs):
-Amperex Bugle Boy (Holland)
-Conn green, gray plate
-Baldwin, black plate
Accessories included:
-Two lengths (3ft and 4ft, I think) of solid silver interconnects
-"Tiptoe" cone isolators and discs
-Herbie Halo damping rings for tubes
Conservative Audiogon rating of 6-7/10 for one small mark on the top left. Otherwise, the unit is in great condition. I've included a pic of the mark. Manuals for Foreplay, C4S upgrade, and Anticipation upgrade are included.
