FS: Bottlehead Foreplay II tube preamplifier w/cables, upgrades, tubes, accessories
Okay, okay, okay... I tried selling this on Audiogon a while ago for $350 (a great deal). There were many biters, but no takers. So I've decided to just see this great preamp go, instead of it just sitting in my room... $250 USD (plus shipping), obo. Have at it.
FIY, this can also be used as a great tube buffer by keeping the attenuators at their lowest resistance level (i.e. highest "volume"). I have done in my headphone system... sounds great!
Please read everything below, since there is a lot included (tubes, feet, dampers, silver cables, upgrades, etc.)
I have the following upgrades on this preamp:
-Auricap capacitors
-C4S constant current source
-"Anticipation" active load upgrade
-"Sweetest Whispers" stepped attenuators
-DC power to tube heaters (power adapter included)
-Separated power supply, using silver-plated copper wiring, with grounded metal chassis (helps reduce EMI)
The following old stock 12AU7 tubes are included (pairs):
-Amperex Bugle Boy (Holland... these are NOT clones...)
-Conn green, gray plate
-Baldwin, black plate
Accessories included:
-"Tiptoe" cone isolators and discs
-Herbie Halo damping rings for tubes
-Two pairs of DIY solid silver (4 or 5 nines, I believe) cables (I had them made for me for use with this preamp, specically)
Rated 6/10 due only to one small mark on the top left. Otherwise, the unit is in great condition. I've included a pic of the mark. Manuals for Foreplay, C4S upgrade, and Anticipation upgrade are included.
I was curious, how do you differentiate between which input corresponds to which switch position? Thanks!

The middle attenuator knob is for the input selection. It starts at the bottom left (at about 7~8 o'clock), and clicks clockwise to change inputs (there are three inputs total).
