Default Will these fit my needs?

I've been browsing the forums for a bit now, and researching like mad for the last few days...

I need headphones soon, but still not 100% sure as to which ones to get...

Uses/Needs:
- 99% electronica music (loads of trance - some with lots of vocals, a lot of techno and some house)
- I don't know all the terminology or how to describe my "taste", but I'd like everything to be heard as it was recorded
- bass: while it should be dominant, it should not drown or overpower mids/highs

I plan to keep these cans for a long time, and so I'm willing to spend a bit extra...right now I'm very tempted to get DT770/80+bloodwood recable+blackmax+screened w/ matching stand...cost=$670USD with shipping.

I probably wouldn't be able to afford an amp for a bit and run this off my a/v receiver or maybe a cheap amp if I could score one from the buy/sell section.

1) Would the above headphones meet my requirements
2) Would I be better off spending the $670USD on a different pair of cans or a cheaper set of cans+amp combo?

Any input is appreciated!
Thanks,
MaxTO

That's an awful lot of money to spend on headphones alone (fancy modded ones at that), particularly when you don't even have an amp yet. (Kinda like buying a $1000+ shortwave receiver with nifty extras and trying to get away with a 10 ft random wire as an antenna.) For that kind of money you could probably buy unmodded DT770s, a decent amp (a $200..300 budget seems to buy something fairly nice, though you can get away with somewhat less when buying used), some refurb'd HD590s, and possibly DT990s as well - including the option of getting some money back by selling the cans you didn't like as much (after thorough break-in, please). We have some trance-heads around here, I'll let 'em chime in...
