Default where can i order ultimate ears?

hi,

i´m looking for the ue-5c´s and trying to safe money, i would like to order them in the USA (i live in germany)
it seems difficult to find companies, which are selling ultimate-ear´s. is ultimate-ears itself selling them? they have not replied my mail yet.
can maybe anyone mention some good online-shops where i could order?

michael

AFAIK you have to order them directly from UE.

You can only order Ultimate Ears phones from Ultimate Ears. There is no way to save money. They are $550, period. (And worth every penny.)

There is a german distribution channel for UEs, but it's even more expensive than ordering at UE itself.
Please don't forget that they most probably won't slip through the customs without paying import VAT (Einfuhrumsatzsteuer) and customs fees, add another 20 %.
Obviously there are ways to avoid those expenses, but they are risky.

You might also try Headroom, who seem to think that the UE5C and UE10 can be ordered from them. http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?...tID=0020380005

thanks to all for replies

the german distributor would like to have 650 euro (round about 877 dollar!!) for the ue-5c´s. regarding the strong euro at the moment, it´s just too expensive i think. i could go for vacation to the US, visit ultimate-ears and pick the phones up personally without having to pay more than here in germany :-)

Air,
Did you see the review here (http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=73841) of a person that ordered a pair of UE-10's from Italy and then flew to LA and picked them up?

You can get the order form for the UE-5c right off of the Ultimate Ears website. Your can print it out and mail it in with your ear impressions from the audiologist.

Also, the UE folks were off during the holidays, and yesterday was their first day back, so it may take them a day or two to respond to the backlog of emails they probably have.

No, not yet.
You can look at what I'm currently using by left clicking on my moniker -->view public profile.
I'll probably purchase UEs or Sensas(not decided yet) next time I'll visit my Frisco based sister.

UE might do this as well, but the Sensas were custom free, as they were valued at like 20 USD. Just something to think about. It's worth asking about, although I never hold it against companies that don't undervalue.

That's exactly what a german customs officer is waiting for.
He'll most probably ask for your credit card receipt, and if he's in bad mood you'll have to pay a fine atop.

Did Sensaphonics really do this? I'm surprised to say the least. If they get caught it would be unpleasant. For you and them both. What if your package got lost? Would FedEx, UPS, whoever... refund you $20?

If you want to buy from Germany, I can only point out that in the case of a refit or repair you won't have to pay for the courier back to you. It's worth bearing in mind.

gorman,

thanks for info. could be important. but even shipping the monitors from germany to the US in case of re-fit would be surprisingly expensive (which i think, i had to pay). i really don´t know, what i should do. ordering in germany (expensive but less risky) or directly at ultimate-ears (less expensive but "maybe" more complicated in worst case). will decide end of the week

michael
