Wondering it too. Every review I have read about them has been very positive, and good bargain too they say. But they never caught fire here in head-fi for some reason. Im itching to try a pair too someday.

Sometimes, headphones for whatever reason will not catch on here. I think a lot of people tend to turn a blind eye to a new or unknown brand. Though I do realize Goldrings are known for their turntable cartridges, their foray into headphones is new.
I still have mine and don't have any intention on getting rid of them. Of course mine are extensively modded so I have a fair amount of time into them as well. I still listen to them on occasion. And since I don't listen to them often I am reminded - sometimes surprisingly so - how good they sound. As a matter of fact - since my iMod is all charged up, I think I'll try them out now.

yup, just like Grado ain't it? They started with cartridges too.
Could just be that the "Flavour of the Month" for these was overshadowed by another, cheating them out of some of their 15 minutes of fame and thus failing to fuel the FOTM rage as usual.
Unfortunately you do not hear alot about long-term users who are happy and even kept these while letting other "more prestigeous" cans go.
It would make an interesting study here: "The Thermodynamic patterns of FOTM"
I too have long been curious about these and would love a listen sometime if the opportunity presets itself.

What is FOTM now, BTW?? Looks like the Denon craze is dying down....HD700 speculation is going up some. I think the Goldring growth pattern started falling with the Denon upsurge in the Head-Fi thread index readings

Between Denons and Goldring, there was that evil Ultrasone too that stole some spotlight from Goldrings. Though Ultrasone has found its place here and fans (including in my rig), Goldrings never got a chance.

Hmm... don't think there has been a recent uproar in regards to new headphones. The RP-21s flared up (love mine especially after recabling them) but they certainly have died down. The Denons have died down as well. We need a new FOTM! Just wait till the new Senns come out.
