Not really... I think we all form a habit of picking things apart to some degree, and it really gets messy when there are different interpretations. Oh well...

I'm fairly interested in the Pro 900, and I hope it fills in the gap between the 750 and Ed9 well. I really hope it's closer to the Ed9 than the 750 though.

It will be an epic success for Ultrasone if that is the case as they'll sell hundreds of thousands all over the world, without a doubt. But if they turn out to be close to 750 or almost identical, then I don't know if potential buyers are going to spend almost twice the cost of Pro750 when it's almost 90% identical. Of course, this is just my speculation.

Yeah, no kidding. They're supposed to be closer structurally to the Ed9 than the rest of the Pro series, but whether or not that will have the desired effect, I don't know. I guess we just need to be patient.

Promo pics of the PRO900 look like they have the round earcups like the existing Proline/PRO series, rather than the oval cups of the Edition 9/780's.

*shrug*

musicman59, absolutely. I'll PM you. I don't think the PRO900 is arriving here until Friday, and I only have it for a few days, so please keep that in mind for scheduling. I'll PM thread now, too.

It looks that way to me as well, but according to (I think) the rep that analogbox spoke with, the cups are smaller than the 750, and the inside is arranged more like the Ed9 interior. I don't know how reliable you consider this info to be.

Just joking.

I'd be surprised if the difference is more than 1% at a cost increase of 100%.
Don't forget, Ultrasone, like all companies , make money - the product is pretty much irrelevant. Usually the changes between the bottom and top of any product range are minimal, many are purley cosmetic.

I would appear that you have not compared the iCan to the UE9 before like I have.

Are you serious? I don't think you could effectively prove this with any sort of test. This is beyond any sort of practical cynicism, and I don't agree with it at all. Don't forget, Ultrasone, like all companies, needs to make products that live up to their price tag in order for them to make money. There are a few exceptions to this, and they don't need to be brought up in this thread. (You know what I mean)

A little bit of an oversimplification there. ;-)
Though I do think that for the money they have some of the worst headbands around, just not a fan of those "DJ" style knuckle joints either.

I guess I'm one of the few who digs those DJ style knuckles and folding systems.

same here. i also wouldn't say the headbands are terrible by any standard. they're durable, unlike the d2000/d5000, they're light, and depending on the shape of your head, quite comfortable. the headband is not the best at anything, but i don't see any glaring faults with the design. i even happen to like the looks (except for the blown-up lettering on the new pro headband).

if i have any problems with the pro series it's the left earcup wire hitting my shoulder sometimes when i'm moving, causing some microphonic noises. it probably doesn't affect everyone, since i haven't seen widespread complaints, but it is annoying for me.
