[QUOTE=Sovkiller;4671951]That could be a posibility in the case fo the PROlines, but the Edition 9 has absolutelly nothing attached, and is rated 8Hz-35KHz as well, so if the new 900 is 6Hz-42KHz, to me they are not the same drivers, unless measured differently, or under completelly different conditions....
The network is IIRC a couple of diodes only, nothing else, to limit the current and avoid to blow the drivers by any abuse/misuse, in the studio, the main purpose and use of them...
Guys I'm not the designer, and I'm not sure what the effect on the total impedance is, and what exactly they were looking for, and what kind are exactly those diodes (or maybe they are other component, but they looked like diodes to me) but all I can say is that while I measured the drivers with nothing attached, they measured identical, around 30 ohms....here is a picture of the inside of a PROLine
is this the innards of a stock proline? looks kind'a messy to me, and worthwhile to try chopping out the extraneous stuff and hardwiring the drivers... what do you think?

chicken!

Hi Jude! Nice pics! One question... Those larger diameter black circles in the picture... Are they soft tympanic like membranes covering larger holes in the baffle board, or hard plastic?

Click on any of the following photos to see a larger version of it.
NOTE: The protective clear plastic is still covering the earpieces, and I'm assuming I'm supposed to try to leave it on. (Again, I only have this pre-production PRO 900 for a few days.)

Thanks for sharing the photos, Jude. Do you mind sharing your first impression on Pro 900?

Ooo, better exposure of the middle of the driver than other Ultrasones...this thing might have more midrange =).

It has the IDENTICAL same driver exposure as the 650, 750, and the 2500.

Pro-650 w/ added dynamat baffle board damping.
Further, exposing the middle of the driver, will not necessarily do ANYTHING more for the midrange. There is no correlation between one and the other.

Not how I remember the driver of my Proline 2500 - but memories can be faulty.

The only difference in the 2500 baffle board is that it has no pressure relief holes (5 white circles in an arc above the driver position) as do the 650, 750, and 900. The "grille" in front of the driver itself is identical in all three. The ED9 is a little different.

Great pics
The important bit to me is that it does not use the positioning and grill of the HFI780 which is the only S-Logic plus hp I have. I believe the Ed9s closest cousin will still be the HFI780.
Come on Jude - give us some thoughts on SQ compared to the others in the range.

Sceptre

The PRO 900 also got reviewed in the german studio magazine "keys". However their headphone reviews are very very useless. Only notable mentions were "extremly voluminous bass" and "pleasent highs". Rest was repeating their marketing bla bla..
I really dont understand ultrasones obsession with extreme bass, I'll pass on this one.

If you have not tried one recently, you will do yourself a disservice.
The bass on all my Ultrasone's are very well done, and not overwhelming in any way, providing an accurate presentation of whatever bass is on the recording, no :extra" bass like some seem to think.
Their overall SQ is very good, and natural sounding.

I owned Pro 750 before all the Ultrasone hype went off, you can read my posts about it in the ultrasone thread. I also heard the ED9, HFI 780 and Pro2500. I'm not sure to which headphone you refer, but if your idea of accurate bass presentation is something like good speakers in a ****ty untreated room, yes that's the Ultrasone sound.

Ya I have no idea what the hell is going on with your ears there kid. Accept it - you like powerful bass...because bass on all the Ultrasones is absolutely accentuated (not necessarily a bad thing). The fact that you are an ex-pro rock guitarist says nothing really, because sound in live rock concerts is generally poorly balanced and excessively loud (before you pull that card).
