Default True or False: There're only 4 different drivers in Grado lineup?

1. IGrado, SR-60, Sr-80.
2. SR-125, SR-225.
3. SR-325, RS-2, RS-1.
4. GS-1000.
And sonic differences between models with same drivers are due to enclosure differences and pads.
Is this true??

So I tell 'em I'm a pro jock and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama himself. The Twelfth son of the Lama; the flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So i'm on the first tee with him, I give him the driver; he hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long...into a ten thousand foot crevasse right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says: (pause) 'Gunga Galunga... gunga, gunga-lagunga.' So we finish the 18th and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey. How about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know?' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money. But when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So i've got THAT going for me. Which is nice."

I doubt it.

SR125 and 225 don't exactly sound even close to similar, even though they both use the same housing.

RS2 and 1 also don't sound similar, even though they're both wood enclosured and of similar style.

Hmm, interesting. I've used to read here quite the opposite, with Rs-2 viewed as RS-1's younger sibling and "almost the same". What is the differences between RS-1&2?

I can believe the iGrado/SR60/80 all have the same driver. Just a recable is enough to bring out major differences in sonic signature.
Some said the 80 needs amping while the 60 don't, well they probably both do, just the 60's cable gives muddier sound which covers up some of the problems associate with under-ampping.

for my understanding, iGrado uses modified SR60 driver. Not too sure about others though.

It would be nice to know if RS2, SR225, and RS1 uses same drivers though.

Nevermind, I made a mistake. RS-1s have longer earcups than the RS-2, and that might make a difference in the sound.

Do RS1/2 have the same cable?

From what I've read, I'm pretty sure that SR60 and SR80 do share the same drivers. It's the cable, which is better in SR80, and the bowls which SR80 have which makes it better and more expensive.

RS1 have a bigger wooden enclosure than RS2, right? Maybe that could explain the small(from what I've read) difference in sound.

I think it was advertised that the iGrado and SR-60 share the same driver.

Also, did you consider that some models might have the same driver, but were doped or tweaked somehow during production?

The question is-how massive is this tweaking, maybe it's to the point where it can't be even considered same driver anymore

it would make sense. top phones are always higher margin than lower ones. ultrasone top phones use 40$ drivers shared by the proline 750 that costs 1/4 of the price.

even so, headphones sound massively different to me based on just the materials in the enclosure.
