May I ask again...where do you get a Hfi 680? The web site does not even list them yet. tia
Heh-heh, tako, I'm more than happy to answer again over here!

For whatever reasons, it seems that they made the decision not to carry the 680s (just as they did not distribute the HFI-650 before them), so it's understandable that their dealer-base have little or no knowledge of them.
But if they see there is a demand for them, Ultrasone USA might reconsider their omission from the range, or at least special order them for direct sales.
Are the icans worthy? or are they easily trumped by the hf1780s? if price and looks were no object and if one were using an ipod 5.5g with no amp, which one would be the one to get?
Yup, Ultrasone usa will not carry the Hfi680's
So any comparisons yet? esp the treble response of the 780 vs pl2500 vs 680. worried about that 780 "sizzle"...the pl 2500's treble is about right.

Even though I have my iCans for sale, they are decent - yet so easily killed by the HFI780 that I decided to sell the iCans for like $80 shipped.

Just looking at your sig. You have a iMod on the way, you also need now one of those Docks that Ken makes using the upgraded capacitors, like the one shown in Ken's new thread concerning his Woo6.

now only deciding between the 780 and the 580 model. If the australian forum guy marcus is in any way accurate about the 580s supposedly being less bright while the same in refinement, cheaper plus more sensitive to boot... It's a no brainer. I have a problem trusting him though cause he doesn't like these cans.
Well, it has been a little over a year since I took the plunge and bought my Proline 750 headphones, especially by the influence of Dexdexter and others very early on in this thread (!!!!)
These headphones are still my favorite listening experience. When I listen to any other headphones, which is to say, when I am out and about listening with my Shure E4c IEMs on my iPod Nano 2nd gen, I cannot help but want for that wonderful deep bass that is so enveloping and involving. I have great speakers at home, too, but even they are not as involving as the Proline 750s are. These headphones simply make music such a complete experience for me.
With hundreds and hundreds of hours on them by now, they are certainly well broken in, to say the least. I usually listen to them at home from one of my computer`s soundcards feeding through a Mackie mixer`s headphone out, since it is such a clean and powerful headphone amp. The "synergy" between these components is ultimate perfection to my ears. Otherwise, it is straight from my Yamaha receiver`s headphone-out if I am listening to PCM digital sources or SACDs. Either way, the sound is always wonderful.
When I write, I typically just plug the Prolines into my laptop headphone out at the coffeehouse, and use iTunes for playback with the EQ setting of "Acoustic" (my definite favorite for MP3s). This is so engulfing and yet pure and undistracting, absent of any negative elements, so that my writing proceeds smoothly and perhaps even more inspired, thanks to the dynamics of my listening experience - the Prolines contributing their magic into the mix. I`ve been the most prolific that I`ve been in years this year, with the chemistry of the headphones, a great coffeeshop (Caribou in Chapel Hill), a great laptop and some good source material. The headphones have trumped it all, though - they are what make it something I look forward to doing.
This has been a very happy year! Musically, I must say that the purchase of the Proline 750s have been the best thing that has happened to me in my long lifetime, and they continue to provide me with absolute pleasure every time I put them on.
Happy listening, everybody! Just popped in to make this report. And to express ongoing fondness and highest regards for all those whom I once inundated with posts galore! Stay well, happy and healthy, everyone!
Terry

Hey Terry. Nice to see you again. (haven't seen you in quite a while) and nice to see that you are still enjoying your prolines. I might have to get me some ultrasones sooner or later. (probably later though)
Happy Birthday, Dexdexter! Thank you from all of us for starting this thread. You will age well like a fine wine!
I hereby pronounce you King of Ultrasonia for a day!
