Are there fake Shure E500? Are these?
I mean, does anybody know first-hand? I am selling my brand new replacement E500s (I switched them for warranty, but the replacements are brand new) and was planning on selling them on ebay, when I ran into this while checking how much would they go for.
Are those fake or what? I have no intention to sell mine for less than $300, hell, I think it's hard even to find them for less than $400 for the PTH version, isn't it?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure they're real, just that they aren't authorized resellers, so there isn't any valid warranty on them. Although some of them may be scams...

it isn't , they were almost always available to buy at around 330$ from ebay from good standing powersellers. Fry's had sold some at like 200$ a while ago in some crazy stock out buy.
the sellers selling them for 299$ are legit too and there are no fakes . also from what i understood from reading here, shure will respect the warranty on these

Since when does Shure cover Ebay sellers? If I was Earphone Solutions I would be livid over some of these prices. If, indeed, they are covered under warranty but that would seem unlikely.

I so regret not getting them at Fry's. I had just gotten my Etys and even at $200 I hesitated. BIG mistake.

I don't know if it's true, but this was stated in the other thread by another Head-Fier:

I can't speak to specifics about warranty coverage on E500s, but I know for a fact you can easily get warranty coverage on E2Cs and all you need are the headphones themselves. They have their manufacture date printed on the plug and Shure will do warranty repair on these based on that. I have had 2, soon to be 3, pairs of E2Cs repaired this way w/o providing a receipt or documentation on the purchase.
I'm one who did buy one of those E500s from eBay, so I hope the same is true with those. Shure have a great reputation for customer service and I think it will not be a problem. There is little they can do w/o jeopardizing that reputation.

Yup, some legit resellers (even on eBay) actually partner with the manufacturing company to handle manufacturing problems.
If Shure really does this I dunno, but I know lots of companies do respect new purchases thru certain, legitimate sellers.

Yes, the policy is certainly skechy. I think they WANT you to have the proof of purchase but I don't think they'd decline you.
I have been to Shure headquarters here in Chicago in the returns dept and they don't ask for much and don't seem to note where the product even came from.
I suppose if they have a valid serial number that's the main thing. Not sure on how they track the 2 years though. It must not be that big of an issue or they must not get that many returns or you would think they would have much tighter reigns on the whole process.

Thansk for the answers people.
Hmm so I now feel tempted to buy one to resell, haha. I guess I'll wait a bit until those run out and then sell mine? How much would one normally sell for? I mean, that guy has them from a store that went out of business, so I guess that's a pretty unusual situation.
I would use it myself, but I was very disappointed with the build quality of this particular model. The sound was OK, but the little rubbers that hold the cable at each of the earphones broke off, both of them. I sent them for repair, and I got a replacement. No way I'm gonna be using these now. I just got me UM2's from earphonesolutions. I was waiting for the release of the SE420's, but with the 4th of July offer it was hard to pass. Almost $100 less! And the only gripe I have with the Westones is that they look so damn ugly. At least the clear ones look a bit better, anyway that's not that important, they look a lot sturdier than the Shures, at least the E500 and E530.
Thanks again.
