Sound quality of KSC75 comparable to E2C?
Being as all my high-end stuff is in the repair shops, I've been using my KSC7s extensively these days, but sometimes I wish I could have that isolation of an IEM (trying to listen w/ the KSC75s during STAR testing baaad idea).
I'm looking at the E2C as a back-up, cheap IEM, but I'm afraid that the sound quality of it falls short compared to the KSC75. I don't want anything worse than the KSC75; it's my standard.

It's... different...
There will be almost no soundstage on the E2c which some people won't like but it *may* have more details (can't rememba, i had E2c about a year go)
But overall, it should be around the same standard...

I use the Shuffle mainly for jogging, badminton, etc., so the Etys are out of the pic...are the UE 3 Studio's comparable? From what I read, they are...

I had the e2c's and my KSC75s and was in the same boat as you are now. I wanted KSC75 quality in an IEM. e2c's do not meet KSC75s. The highs are rolled off and the mids are not quite there. It does have good bass though but thats not what the KSC75 is all about. So I moved up to e3c's. They have the highs and mids I wanted but the bass was now gone. Finally I got the e4s. They are the closest IEM i've heard to KSC75s. Highs, mids, bass is all there. Be sure to use the foam tips too. But $180 to get KSC75s in a IEM? I found it worth while because I use IEMs more than KSC75s and wanted something sealed and discreet (I don't like using ugly, open headphones in a library). Anyway, KSC75 in an IEM is possible, but not cheap.

Through my ipod, the e2c sounds muffled compared to the ksc75. Listening to the ksc75 like a bliss with the highs. I use my e2c's when i go out because i want the isolation.
If i had a chance to rechoose an IEM to suit the ksc75 synergy, e2c is not the one.

If you want isolation, what about a cx300 or ep630? I think they are more open sounding than the e2c.

You'll never get the soundstage and imaging that an open, dynamic headphone can produce in an IEM.

I'm a fan of the KSC-35/75/PortaPro/etc sound, and IMO you have to go up to the E4C/UES.f5Pro/ER4P level to match them.
I did think the E3Cs were decent, but the E2Cs weren't close (all IMO).

Like the comments that have been posted already, I think most people will like the ksc75 over the e2c. However, I'm not one of them. The e2c may not be as airy or as exciting as the ksc75, but the e2c sounds more refined to my ears.

i personally prefer the ksc75 (and it sounds better) to the e4, the e2 doesnt even come close to the picture.

e2c doesn't come close to the KSC75. 2 very different sounding phones. Now... if you mod the e2c, and amp it, that helps. At least thats what I found.
Theres the other thread about the altec IEMs.. ~$50 with Amazon visa. That might be a nice alternative.

surely thats not right, i love my e2c's because they have forward, well presented mids. The only thing i can fault the e2cs on is the high end which really doesn't bother me too much.
the KSC's do sound better, and my dt880's sound better than the KSC's yet i still find myself using the e2c's

If you own the E2c's and want a more detailed high end then you should do the aforementioned Kramer mod. It took me all of 30 seconds to use a tiny screwdriver and perform the mod. That being said, in answer to the original question, I think my EP630's have a closer sound to the KSC75's. The E2's isolate better than the EP630's but I am really liking the sound of the EP630's. If it weren't for the microphonics the EP630 would be darn near perfect for $30.

The only IEMs that I've tried/own which might provide better SQ than the KSC75 depending on your tastes, are the Shure E4, Etymotic ER-4P, and the Sensaphonics. Even if you're a basshead, I think you'll be disappointed with the E2c, if your point of reference is the KSC75.
But seeing as how you're looking for a low cost (< $100) alternative, you might try the EP-630 or the CX300, although I have not heard either of them. The consensus seems to be that they might provide more bang for the buck than the E2c.
