So I guess these are the UE9 on the cheap? I like the 750's and from what I have read and been emailed by people who have both is that the 9's and 750's are close. I wonder if the 280 would offer much difference from the 750?
I’ve read that Edt.9 close to MDR-R10. That makes Proline 750 close to MDR-R10 too.
Everybody hear different and everything is relative. I had 2500 which 750 open version and they are not even close close to the Edt.9 to me.
But I hope that 780 will be close to Edt.9 when I buy and mode them. .
From construction /design point the 780 in more close to Edt.9 than 750.
I was wondering about the Pro 750 vs the hfi-780 as well. But one thing, from the pics I've seen the 780 looks MUCH better IMO.
If you have heard the Proline 750 then you have heard the Pro 750. It has not changed. I have not heard the Proline 750 so I am at a disadvantage in comparing the 780s to those.
Over on the big thread the word was that the Proline 2500 and 750s were very similar if I am remembering correctly so that should make the 780s different from the Pro 750s in my book but again this is conjecture.
I got mine today. Very brief listen straight out of the box seemed promising. But now I will not listen to them for 100 hours, while they get a steady diet of XM Radio for break-in
Slwiser, would you think the HFI-780 can be used as a portable can (for everyday walking, commuting etc)?
Also, is it possible that they are the same can, and with burn in they will sound the same?

I think Skylab is showing a bit more maturity in waiting to post anything. Today the headphone has shown its first signs of changing on me and they went in the wrong direction for me. No I don't think they are the same cans as the UE9. These are really new cans based on the old HFI-750 with changed mu-board and pads more like the UE9 with similar drivers as the old HFI-750. We will just have to see what they sound like a few hundred hours into this. The Pro 750 and 2500 are updated Prolines with only a face lift. What I am anticipating is that the sound will eventually return to what I was hearing on the first day or very near it. It seems that I have seen this before somewhere.
