Second, if I have the alo mod, will it wipe the manufacture warranty out?
And lastly, what I didn't get from headphoneaddict in his comparison to the ue9 is that how close the alo 780 is to the ue9, is it 80%, 90% or 95% of the ue9.

They leak almost NO sound at all.
The second question is already answered in my latest post in the ALO thread:
Ultrasone HFI780 ALO Mod

HeadphoneAddict, thanks for your info, I really enjoy your review of the alo 780 and the ue9. Do you know if anyone has a alo modded ue9 (w/ JenaLabs)?

No, but considering the Edition 9 still beat the modded 780 by a small margin, I would imagine a re-cable will only make the Edition 9 better too.
Oh, Ken at ALO does have a modded Edition 9 of his own, as a matter of fact. Someday, if I get tired of the 780's, I can put a less costly cable on them, and put the JL cable on the Edition 9 or something else. I didn't get back my old cable (useless cable/diode board), but I have a couple of stock Grado and a stock D2000 cable laying around that I could use since the 780 are dual entry now.

I can tell you that yes, the HFI-780 most certainly has more slam and tightness to the bass than the D2000.

I also do find the D2000's lacking in bass slam which prompted me to sell it very quickly. Hopefully the 780's can deliver.

I hear over in Europe and stuff they use , to denote decimal points.

Is $215 shipped to Canada a good price? I might get taxed with customs as well though... which will bring it to $250 CAD... But still is it a good price?
Or should I just ask someone in the USA to buy them for $200 shipped to them then pay them for shipping to me

Mine were about $207 shipped (USD) to USA, so $215 USD isn't bad being up north and all. It will cost you more to have one of us ship you a pair.

I found them for about $280- including tax here in Toronto. I always get zapped with customs charges and I'm wary of warranty issues as far as buying something in the U.S. and bringing it up here.

You bring up a very good point regarding the alo mod. I've just ordered an alo-780 and I better e-mail Ken right away to make sure he will sent the diode board and the stock cable back to me along with the order just in case if I ever find some money to buy the UE9 or is it UE11 by then, I can just swap the cable.

Where'd you find them for $280 in Toronto? I tried to find some place in Toronto that sells them, but had no luck finding anywhere
