Little leakage but not bad. Outside in is no problem for me.

Just briefly... can you describe the sonic characteristic of this new HFI-780?
which music genre match with this cans? and just from your initial impression, which one do you choose? ESW9 or HFI-780?
edit: disregard my first question, i forgot to check page 5

Well I got home this afternoon after leaving the 780 home today and now I am listening to the again.
These are opening up even more in image width. WOW!....great sound.
Now if you don't like the UE9 sound don't bother with these....I know there have been a lot of people over the last year or so telling what they have not like with the UE9 so if you are one of those don't bother with these. It has the almost the same sound profile.

So I guess these are the UE9 on the cheap? I like the 750's and from what I have read and been emailed by people who have both is that the 9's and 750's are close. I wonder if the 280 would offer much difference from the 750?

I have not heard the Proline 750 so they may very well have the same or similar sound profile as I am hearing with the 780 and the UE9. I had the Proline 2500s and these are much better in my opinion. Much more enjoyable to me. Maybe I should find myself somewhere near a 750 and hear it.

slwiser : can u take pic of the ue9 and the 780 side by side.
so how do ultasone justify by charging so much for the ue9 just for the enclosure? or they find out a very cheap way to make the driver?

Maybe the HFI-780 is a mistake or maybe I am off my rocker....I don't know.
Picture will be forth coming later tonight when I get around to it.
Let me report one thing that I have found that I don't care to much for. The cable is stiff compared with the UE9 and gets more in my way.
Just A/B ing them right now and the UE9 has clarity that the 780 does not have right now. It could be that period that I have experience with both my Ultrasones between 50 and 100 hours where they go south on me for a bit. I guess this goes with the other change that I noted in image width. These phones are changing with time.

I was wondering about the Pro 750 vs the hfi-780 as well. But one thing, from the pics I've seen the 780 looks MUCH better IMO.

I’ve read that Edt.9 close to MDR-R10. That makes Proline 750 close to MDR-R10 too.
Everybody hear different and everything is relative. I had 2500 which 750 open version and they are not even close close to the Edt.9 to me.
But I hope that 780 will be close to Edt.9 when I buy and mode them. .
From construction /design point the 780 in more close to Edt.9 than 750.

If you have heard the Proline 750 then you have heard the Pro 750. It has not changed. I have not heard the Proline 750 so I am at a disadvantage in comparing the 780s to those.
Over on the big thread the word was that the Proline 2500 and 750s were very similar if I am remembering correctly so that should make the 780s different from the Pro 750s in my book but again this is conjecture.

I got mine today. Very brief listen straight out of the box seemed promising. But now I will not listen to them for 100 hours, while they get a steady diet of XM Radio for break-in
