I'm wondering, I have some Proline 550s, really like them. Is it worth buying the HFI-780s?

I didn't ask for it. It was just their standard shipment method at that time. You should call & ask em why they're sending yours UPS ground when other shipments were FedEx 2nd day.

Mine was shipped UPS ground, as well, but it is only taking two days to get here. I think RMC audio chooses whichever shipping method is cheapest but will still get the phones to the destination in two days.

But it's always refreshing to read different opinions
especially for people who aren't able to audition it first, and playing blind testing games

I'm in Northern California. They shipped today, and won't get here until Tuesday. Which is odd in my opinion. I thought UPS Ground took less than 5 days usually. Oh well.

Default IMPORTANT UPDATE IN THE ALO RE-CABLE THREAD

Go here: Ultrasone HFI780 ALO Mod

I have found some excellent amp synergy in the DarkVoice 336i with certain tubes, and NOW I have the PERFECT opamp selection for the iBasso D1. These ALO re-cabled HFI780 are simply stunning now, at 123 hours

My job is done

(okay, well, I'll have these till Friday or Monday, and will keep reporting every 24 hours on the progress, but searching for the right amp/tube/opamps is just about over (still playing with iBasso DAC opamp tomorrow).

I hope I'm able to find out for myself quite soon. If I can, I'll let you know.

595s are the only big Sennheisers that I think will work well with an iPod. 600/650 have too high an impedence. Was on max volume most of the time, which I'm sure is not good for iPod or the phones. So if 595 are better then may get these for home use, as the 780s are really for times when I don't want any sound leakage either in or out of the phones.

Why don't Apple produce an audiophile iPod with a truly awesome high end output stage?
