For you which of the two (Darthbeyer and it) has more bass slam then?
In other hand, yes i have felt this experience sometimes with my Beyer DT990; that i feel the bass in the bottom with very deep tones...
Thank you for your answer.
Skylab, of the two (Denon D5000 and it) which have a deeper bass (well i believe that the Ultrasone, but i am not sure) and a bigger soundstage/ headstage. As much depth as width? (is very important for me)?
And which of the two has better image?
I narrowed my interest in these two headphones....
And for you which of the three has the most slamming bass and in which order
(including the DX1000)??.
Ah, i forgot to ask you about the Beyer DT990? Is the soundstage Depth, smaller or bigger VS the HFI-780?, the same i want to know about the beyer DT990 vs the Denon in this area.
Thank you very for your answers...

My Edition 9 AND my HFI780 do have a bass presence that seems visceral at times, meaning somehow I feel the bass in my gut on electronic new age music that goes really low. I use to laugh at people that said that about a headphone till I felt it for myself. It's like some psych-trip when feeling that queezy in-your-gut disorientation from 16Hz bass that doesn't roll off. Like some kind of primitive reflex to low frequency tones that never evolved out of us. Listening to John Serrie and Liquid Mind space music was never this much fun before.
I switched to my APS v2 re-cabled Denon D2000 and they don't do that with the really deep notes, and yet they have the same normal bass impact as the HFI780. (even the Darth Beyer, which had tons of impact at 64-125Hz, didn't have the gut wrenching lows.)

Reason: added more info
Sky, I have two questions about the HFI780. How would you rate the sound compared to Shure E500? I know it's like comparing apple to oranges, but it's the only IEM we both have had. Would you say the improvement is extremely high? I'm thinking about the HFI for my portable rig.
Second question: can you advice for a portable amp? Does the Pico match the 780 well?
Thanks.
Antonyfirst, did Skylab answer your question already?
Skylab, I've also have had Shure e500, and I'm very interested in this question. And, I am also thinking of HFI 780 (which is on the way and should be delivered by Monday) to use as portable cans. Well.. I do have a messenger bag I always carry So I am very interested in portable amp for it, too. I'm thinking something warm and airy and transparent will do good for HFI 780, but I have very small experience with amps.
Oh.. btw.. I'm thinking of ordering new DV 3322, (for Sennheiser HD 600), I've been contacting with DV China to get a special price and early delivery on it. I wonder how DV will pair up with 780. I've heard from some that DV 332 didn't pair up well with low impedance phones. But, since you have a DV 337, if you could comment on synergy btw 780 and your DV, I'd truly appreciate it!!!

Who said that? Can I have their addresses please? I am going to go beat them up for being wrong.
Anyways, if HFI780 is much like Edition 9, you are right about thinking of an airier amplifier to go with them. Best results using Edition 9 with portables from my experience were with Pico, followed by RSA amps...

They don't sound much alike at all. The E500 has a fat but not super-tight bass, buttery-smooth mids and treble, but a little laid back. The 780's have slightly leaner but much tighter and deeper bass.
I do think the 780's would be good for a portable rig where space/size isn't an issue.

I haven't done enough direct comparisons yet to fully answer your questions, but based on what I hear so far, the D5000 has a little less bass impact than the 780, although I think the D5000 has slightly deeper bass. The Dt990 (mine are 600 ohm) have slightly less bass slam, but have more overall bass, and a little more depth than the 780's do. The 780's bass is terrific, though - deep, punch, tight, and full.
The Deep-Cup Darth Beyers I have are still the bass king of all, however. And I *prefer* the bass of the DX1000 over the Denon and the HFI-780, but it may have a tiny bit less "slam". But the DX1000's combination of bass impact, depth, AND tightness is the best there is, period.
All that said, the HFI-780 is the cheapest BY FAR of any of the headphones I just discussed, and it's certainly not embarrassed by them. And some will prefer their midrange performance over any of them.
Analyzing soundstage takes longer for me, haven't really gotten there yet.

The 780. In spite of being 25 ohm, I find the Denons need a lot of juice to get up and go.
Ok Skylab, i will wait for your complete impressions about the soundstage/headstage and about the image of the HFI-780 vs the others (specially the Denon and DT990).
That i dislike about the DX1000 is the price and the cable (i read yesterday (and for second time) your review in headphonereviews.org about the Denon D5000, where you compared it with the JVC), because it's microphonic and it get noise easily (is a pity for this price...), according to your opinion. Ah, and it has a problem in the midrange that make it sound less natural (nasal; according to your description). Is very good that the HFI-780 has an forward midrange (it is better for me; for the music that i listen that benefit from it). That is that i have been looking for..., and i like that very much. It's more forward than your Denon D5000?
At purpose, which of the two (your DX1000 and DT990) has a bigger headstage (i can consider in the near future the DX1000 (if it didn't had extinct/gone first in that time))
Is a pity about the DX1000, because it have a very good bass, but the mids, i don't known...

That's right, you have 332, right? Sorry for being wrong with low impedance phones. There were couple people who mentioned it about pairing up ATH W-1000. (I was thinking about ATH before going with 780). Thanks for correcting me and thank you for the recommendation on the amp, Malos!!
