I want to get some more opinions before making my decision. I do not have an amp.
Ok, so first of all I'm looking for a headphones that are primarily good for music(rock and metal) and be able to use right into the line6 podxt(for quiet playing, recording through it and monitering). I will also use them for a little bit of gaming(fps games, but thats not most important)
The MS-1s cost about $100 new and the SR225 cost about $150 used. Are the 225s worth the extra $50? (I have about $150 total.)
I want as many opinions as possible as I'm new to this whole hifi headphones.
Yes, the 225s are $50 better than the MS-1s. However, the MS-1s are smoother and might be better for games, I'm not sure. But the 225s are by far the better headphone for rock and metal.
alternate goes to ms2i, although i have not heard one.

Buy the cheaper MS-1, see if Grados are your taste, and if you want, sell the MS-1 and get the SR225. MS-1s can sell close to value since they're pretty popular around here.

Never heard the SR225, but I'm guessing the MS-1 would be the mellower, smoother one, while SR225 is the more aggressive one. They do sound similar, yes, but there will be differences.

How about an other option: spend < $150 on an SR60 + PA2V2. I think it is a killer combination for the money.
SR60 are a bit more "in your face" than MS1.
The PA2V2 give them a bit of extra power, a bit of warmth (takes the edge of the somewhat accentuated highs) and a bit more bass.
The PA2V2 was also very nice for my (then still unmodded) SR325i (known to be a bit overly bright to some), so if upgraditis hits, you can always put your PA2V2 to good use by choosing that route....
Just my 2c.
