Bottom line guys, if it is being announced to head-fi before the offical CES release, it has to be something big. It will NOT be something cheap.
It will be new, it will be pricey, and it will be FOTM.

hmnm due to the droping price of the high end sen's I guess it's a new high end headphone. I don't think electrostatic due to the need for an amplifier, could be planar or peizo both techs with some reserch could make a high end headphone.

couldn't agree more. i'll be very disappointed if they don't release a new flagship dynamic in the same price range as the hd650 (when it was released).

You guys are all headed in the wrong direction I'm sorry to say.
I have it on good authority that Senn is launching an entirely new line -- the HM.
The HM's or Hannah's as they are affectionately known at Senn board meetings are a youth styled headphone line aimed at the untapped girls 10-17 market. They will come in fashion colors primarily purples and pinks.
The "phones" will come with cel phones installed and will have wireless sync to the internet and have a detachable texting pad built into the "hairstyle friendly headband tm".
The spokeman for the HMs, Miss HM herself, Hannah Montana, will be launching the first of the models at her website exclusively to members of her fanclub.
These exclusive cans which cost about 18 dollars to manufacture will test a new retailing concept. Prices will be based on a sliding scale dependent on the credit limit of the parents. The HMs will start at $740 and top out at $17000.
Miss Montana was unavailable for comment.

Good authority you say? Make room for the Senncandys.
But seriously, I also hope it is a closed can as well as a woody.

Hehe, I was thinking a new flagship *and* a new line like a 7 series. It is what Senn has done previously. I've read reams of posts all talking about one phone. Perhaps dynamic, perhaps 'stat but it makes much more sense to me it'll be a new range to replace the aging 5xx and 6xx series. They have been around for some good time, it's time for something new, and preferably something I'll like this time.

Jude must be reading this thread and laughing his head off, saying "haha, if only they knew how far off they really were".

I imagine Sennheiser are reading this thread and laughing their faces off at all the wild and fanciful speculation going on. Then wishing they'd come up with the stuff we really want instead of what they are actually preparing.
I hate waiting for announcements
