If it drives down prices on the HE60 I'm all for it!

I think Sennheiser will announce the new PX50 which retails for $9.99 and has new, exciting features such as a "Bose-Bass" Bass Booster! It could happen...!

You're not the only one!
Its a shame that Sennheiser abandoned their HE series a couple of years back. But hopefully they revive it in January, with a new 'phone to succeed the HE60 or perhaps even the HE90...

I'd like to see a new closed portable good looking can for ~$60-80. It should be as bassy as K81DJ but with improved highs and soundstage

Could be a coincidence, but local dealers here in Russia have dropped the 650s to the equivalent of $360 last week (was $500).

I just purchased a pair of HD650 for the equivalent of $340 a few days before christmas... (The official price in the store was $580(!) - but since the store had some kind of "lowest price guarantee" I could make a good deal on them).
Even if there is a sucessor coming soon, something like HD700/800, just over 300 bucks for a pair of 650´s is still a good price.
Edit - in Sweden

That is cheap. The cheapest I can find here is AUD$599.

Kevin Gilmore said there's a flagship electrostatic headphone and apparently it is not Stax. Then it must be Sennheiser!

I sure hope so but I doubt it. If they do it will be tied to some crappy amp like the HE90 and costs a fortune.

Jude says its something we're not expecting...could it possibly be that Sennheiser may have been working on this in collaboration with one of the other big companies?

It would be a total dissapointment if it was a electrostat, It would be expensive, hard to drive and no it would not sell a much as sennheiser would like. I just hope that sennheisers great engineers have made a signifficant uppgrade to HD650. Better sound, comfier and easier to drive.
