If it's a new flagship headphone, I hope they don't change the plugs used in HD580 to HD650.

I'm betting it's an IEM to gain market share in the UE, Shure monopoly.
Too bad...

Yep me too! I don't think it will be another hdXXX one since jude mentioned it would be kind of an unexpected move from Senn. A new HD is what most people thought of so I guess / hope that will not be the next move.

you really think it would be a new flagship phone?
All I know is after the massive, massive success of the cx300 in the mass market, i would expect something in a similar vein there.
Im not getting my hopes up for very high end. That way its a great surprise for me. if we see a new dynamic to beat the 650

Yes, I at least hope so. And a part in me think its happening.
Cause Sennheiser seriously need to put out a new HE phone, and not just "another" HD one...

Whatever they're introducing, it should be of interest to those of us who take headphones and high-end headphone listening seriously, since they invited Jude.

What would be least expected from Sennheiser is a new flagship headphone with fullrange piezoelectric drivers. Actually it's hard to believe that this technology is capable of providing high fidelity sound (although Audax once has produced an elliptical piezoelectric high-end tweeter after all), but you never know, and since we have to expect the unexpectable...
On the other hand, nobody was telling that the new product be a headphone. If not, that would be the most unexpected.

Well, their assault on the high-end noise-canceling market was a flop. I wanted SOOOO badly to like the HD450's, but I returned them because they were deeply flawed (the NC circuitry removed almost all the bass). The less-than-half-the-price AT ANC7's were much better (although less comfortable).
I do hope for a successor to the HD650 - I'd really like to own a high-end Sennheiser can again. I have owned (and sold) 590s, 595s, 600s, and 650s, but just never fell in love. Hoping the 5th time might be a charm
