Hmm, great news. Will keep January exciting.
I am hoping for a flagship designed more along the lines of the HD-595, or at least something that will push the price of the HD-595 down a bit

D'oh! I just bought a new set of HD-600s. I love 'em. I could have waited a few weeks and probably saved a bit.

ahh, yes, yet another thing for me to drool over, but not be able to afford. Excellent.

If its not a statement level Sennheiser take on TakeTs piezo-AMT hybrid leap then tbh, its a blip.

My birthday is at the end of January.
I'll have to drop some hints to the wife if it's a new flagship

Exciting! A new flagship would be welcome. Maybe a closed statement product on the lines of the MDR-R10?

I don't think I want it to be that 'statementy.' I don't want to have to take out a second mortgage to get them.

If Senn pull out some real technological stops, and I mean in a really impressive not just a 4th rehash of the hd580 way, then I'd sell off things to plunge on that offering. It'd have to be a not-a-moving-coil at minimum though.

Hopefully it's a new flagship and hopefully it's affordable for most people.

Since Jude's said that considering all the speculation over the past year, Sennheiser's products will be unexpected, maybe it's not a new flagship in the way were expecting, like a 650 or HE90 replacement. Maybe it's more along the lines of surround-sound, wireless or noise-canceling technology, or maybe they're entering the custom iem market or daps or amps or....

Sennheiser cannot possibly hope to replicate the awesomeness of the Surrounder, so I think a 5.1 headphone is pretty much out.
Maybe an HD650 driver in a PX100esque housing for portable audiophiles.

I'm hoping for a newer updated electrostatic something between the he60 and he90 in terms of sound and pricing, who knows maybe they can even surpass the he90 without breaking the bank.
