Sennheiser HD485 vs Grado SR80
Looking for some feedback on the Sennheiser HD485. I'm trying to decide between those and the Grade SR80's.

What? Bass is what the SR80s are designed for, they'll also have better treble than the HD485

SR-80 have good bass for non-bass heads (pretty good quality, not that much quantity) ... they have lousy bass for bass heads.
My HD497 have lousy bass if quality is what you're after

I choose SR80 anytime above Sennh.HD485
Grado SR80 are detailed, liquid and smooth sounding with very nice bass response.
HD485 are just boomy

the best advice your going to get here is: go and try them both. if you happen to live in the finger lakes region of NY go to stellar stereo and audition them on a NAD amp, or bring your own source. ( i say this because i did this exact comparison about two months ago now i own a pair of HD465 and MS-1s)
bottom line for these headphones IMHO
Senn: comfy lots of thumpy bass, a bit muddy decent for the rest
Grado: detailed, "ultimate rock headphone" retro look, questionable comfort, lacking in bass quantity.

Ironically, I just got done bashing the SR80's here:

If you want to buy my crappy SR80's along with TTVJ flat pads and a Grado Extention Chord, PM me. Otherwise, they're headed for the trash can.

you have to keep in mind that the sennheisers are also more comfortable. you can keep them on your head 2 hours without feeling anything
