Default s.f 5pros and pk1s??

hey everyone,

so recently i bought the super.fi 5 pros and have been burning them in for about 2 days or so with the F.S mod.. im tempted to get the westone cables but that will be extra 40$ out of my pocket and i dont think i need that yet..

My friend recently got the pk1s, and i haven't yet had the chance to compare them 1 on 1..
so out of curiosity, i want to hear the rest of your opinions on the s.f 5pros and the yuin pk1s. I know ones an in-ear and the other canal, but sound quality, lows/highs, and built wise, how do the two compare?
They're both in the same price range (i got my s.f 5s for 130 @ amazon, and i believe pk1s cost around that range)

cheers

lol i just got both

i dont think SF5's get anything from burn in, but from using both, SF5's is much more bas heavy, but that is more of a BAM bass, where as PK1's are detailed all around.

I prefer the SF5's as they are better isolation, and i just prefer the BAM sound signature, but right now, I am using the PK1s, and I use the PK1s when I dont need isolation, its like having a full size can on!

depends what u need them for, i prefer my sf5's for my bassy, dance/trance music, but i prefer the pk1s for my vocal/rock music

do pk1s require an amp?
the thing that annoys me about pk1s are that they are canal earphones, and i never had good experiences out of those, and once i tried the IEM isolation, i dont think i can go back to canal..

also have you tried the westone cable? hows the sound quality improvement?? once you get them, i understand you're suppose to clip a bit of the end of the connectors?

I love my SF5 Pro. They don't need an amp but I think that I do hear a slight improvement (especially with lossless files) when using a LOD and Cmoy.

PK1s really require an amp, even my inexpensive Penguin Classic $49) really brings them to life. And they aren't canal phones, they are ear buds, the same form factor as you get with iBuds. I use the PK1s around the house or walking outside, where I want high-quality, detailed sound but don't need complete iso. I use IEMs (in my case, Atrios or AL 716s) for complete isolation, like trains, planes, or TV sound (when family is watching).
