Still awaiting delivery of replacements but now I'm not looking forward to the build quality of these! Would be nice just to seal them up from the outside - varnish or something.

It was already mentioned a few times that they don't have this issue anymore. It was only the earlier pairs of these models.

Completely different sound signature. Not even the same headphones lol.
These mylarones are far more comfortable though. The other ones created pressure when putting them in my ear and it kind of hurt. + I can lay down on my side much more easily with these and they don't jam into my ear hard which is a plus because I like listening to audiobooks in bed at night.

Ah, apologies, I haven't been keeping track of the thread.
I received my X3i's today! Burning in as we speak (can't listen to them at work as they block out too much noise). Thank god I dont have to use the sony canal phones that came with my phone anymore!

Not excessively. The paper piece doesn't filter that much. The Mylars get a tiny bit brighter without it, but not much. Same goes for the metal mesh I put in there instead of the paper. I like the slightly brighter sound.
I wouldn't use them without a filter, though. Since the nozzle diameter is quite big, dust can make its way to the driver pretty easily.

just got the re-cabling done.
Done with military spec 26-AWG twisted silver-coated copper wire.

already hearing more tightened bass and more details. i dont know if i should burn-in or not.
it's obviously stiffer than the original cable and does not fit into its case anymore. however, its very very sturdy now and i love the sound. =)))

So I'm going to volunteer myself for humiliation and ask about the Ruby models.
I'm heavily considering getting these right now, especially with such a price. But before I do, I am really, REALLY curious as to the sale of the ruby model. Not sure what it is about them but they're seriously very, very pretty and was wondering if anyone had any info about them and could answer sooner than people at jaben

they cost the same as the other colours, and come in both X3i and XBi flavours... they're said to be limited edition.

I have had no problems with the cables with the newer batches. haven't tried swinging from tree to tree with them yet, but they seem fine, as do my girlfriend's. But I cannot say if there's any changes.

Haha... that I'm not too sure myself. But since they're all the same price, it shouldn't really matter?

Wow... good to see I'm not the most extreme person here in that thread. Good job!
EDIT: " military spec 26-AWG twisted silver-coated copper wire"? Where on this planet does any military organization use silver-coated wires? I thought only "audiophiles" fell for that.

Does anyone know any tips that are slightly bigger than the white mediums that it comes with, but not as big as the large ones?

Ultimate Ears Super.Fi medium sleeves might fit that description. They're a little stiffer as well.
