Nice review. This definitely helps me with my current IEM purchase decision.
Had not heard the ER4 but owned the ER6i for two years. Never could get them EQd quite right. Seems like Ety is true to form across their product line.
Yeah nice review.
I just replaced my ER6i's with the E500's, oh boy...oh boy oh boy oh boy.
I was worried i would miss the Ety's detail, but no, the E500's really sound alot fuller, muchly so, but they still have amazing detail, in fact i sometimes prefer their sound to the AKG K701 i use at home.
So i do not regret not getting the ER4p instead of the E500, and shame on you for making me think twice about it
Really, i love the E500PTH, everything is just right. Plus i got them for 2/3'rds of the price of the newer E530, which is exactly the same, except for a WORSE bundle (it doesn't have the PTH module, and some of the sleeves are different).
I'm running my portable rig unamped with a cheap Sansa Clip, and it rivals, even beats, my home rig on certain points. Now how awesome is that?
The ER4P is VERY picky. On flat equalization the E500 are better.
When I made this review, I prefered Etys because they become unbeliavably good with the right equalization. I found that perfect EQ sinergy only with a Kenwood, so I cannot warrant that any player will be able to make the ER4 sound as good or better than the E500. The ranking of the E500 in my signature has to be taken with a grain of salt for this reason: I ranked the ER4P at their full potential.
