Bose just introduced I set of headphones that I'm sure you will like. they really isolate your listening imvironment very well and there is a little switch on the side when deactivated will allow sounds outside of the headphones to filter through, my understanding of this is that these phones are battery powered. the cost for these very comfortable headphones is around $349.00, and trust me, this will be the best money you ever spent.
Uh oh...
We will forgive you this because its ur 1st post (BTW, Welcome to Head-Fi, sorry for your wallet!!!), but still, you could have read the many many many post comparing the QC2 to everything else.
Let's say we throw you a little brick instead of a full house up your head...

I have a bridge on the Moon I'd love to sell you.
Wow.
AKG 701s get my vote in this thread in terms of price point, performance, and overall value.
I would suggest the AKG 26p's if you are somone looking for a great portable headphone with isolation, so as not to bother people around you. I love the bass on these headphones unlike the Sennheiser PX-200 which suggest that bass is there. They really give it to you. They also collapse to a nice compact package.
In comparison to the PX-100's they are great. They perform just as well imo. Just now they provide the isolation if you need it.
The only con's I have about the 26p is the mechanism in which you adjust the steel band to fit your head. It likes to slide back to the smallest form. Meaning whenever you take them off they snap back to this size.
