Alessandro MS-2s

Punchy like the Grado 125/225s, but cleaner. Definately some rock cans (Fast, Good Bass) but classical does have a more lively tone to it. Pads make a very big difference in the overall equilization (and of course comfort). Worth every penny *grin*.

Gota go with my HD600's! In my heart of hearts I know the 650's better but I'll never relent!

Don't want to have 'edit' on that post above, so in addition to open phones:

Best closed cans: K271s, HD25-1 (add best portable & isolation on 25)

Edit: OMG, how embarassing. Anyway, now its DT250-250 and HD280 :eggo:

Default I always see the same cans mentioned........

I always see the same cans mentioned over and over.....but has anyone ever heard Fostex headphones? I know theyre mostly in the Pro market,,,but these sound real good,,,and theyre not all that expensive. Places like Guitar Center,,,and Sam Ash, sell them. I own the T-20RP(about $70) and there an T-50RP (about $90). They sound great really, and theyre built pretty tough. I purchased my T-20's about 20 or so years ago,,and theyre working fine! They still sell them. just wondering what people thought. I think for build, sound, and price they compete with most of whats out there. I believe theyre also 50 ohms. My portables do drive them,,,but yes they are much better with an amp.

Default Old Beyerdynamic DT 990 ( 600 Ohm version)

I was surprised not seeing many Older headphones recommended here, though thay can many times be bought "cheap" on ebay.

I still use some 20 year old Beyerdynamic DT 990 headphones with new velour ear pads. I have mine modded by removing all internal foams and adding a small high frequencie roll off circutry to town down the slightly hot treble.

My DT 990 sound just wonderfull when driven by my Conrad Johnson CAV 50 amp (no pad dpwn resstors in the signal path). Highly detailed, great resolution and very clean sounding. Driven y my tube amp they do sound wonderful.

Unfortunatelly I don't have any newer headphones to compare mine with. But if yur here in Spain you could come pop by for a little headphone comparison.
