I've got a $20 coupon left over for http://www.sonystyle.ca, anything there that's good?

Thanks.

EDIT: Been reading some past threads, I think I'll just go with the Sennheiser MX500.
Good choice.
MX400's the same but w/o a volume control and w/ snazzier looks, if you care at all.

I always wanted everyone to give mini-reviews of their headphones so that newbies can get a concise idea of what to buy.

I don't know if you can get these anymore but for some really good cheap headphones try the Maxell HP-2000 headphones. They were around $25 when I purchased mine and have become the headphone that I listen to the most along with the Senn MX500.

Default grado sr-125: think sr-60 trying harder. top end is a tad more extended in perceived

Carlo, Grado's take a really long time to break-in. Have you listened to broken-in pairs of SR125's and SR225's? I upgraded to SR125's from SR60's during the past year. It has taken over 200 hours of playing time to get them to open up and begin to resolve fine details. They keep getting better and better with more use. I was at a local Hi-Fi shop today and compared my SR125's with their floor model RS-1's, HD580's and HD600's. IMO my broke-in SR125's had better low level detail, dynamics and bass than the floor model unit that I listened to. I still may go back for a pair of the HD580's. Compaired to the RS-1's and the HD600's, the HD580's were very close sounding to the other two at a way better price. Like half to one third the price of the other two pairs of headphones. As for my SR125's I think they are a steal for the $125 that I paid for them.

Goldielocks tried on the Grado 325's and said, "ohhhhhh WAY to bright, where's the bass?" Then Goldielocks tried on the Senn. HD650 and said, " ohhhhhh I don't want to sit in the 15th. row of this concert. I want to be up front." Then Goldielocks tried on the Beyer DT 880's and said, OWWWY just right. On stage, good bass, articulate highs, smooth midrange, non-fatigueing, mid-priced, and oh-so comfy." Goldielocks has never been known to lie. :600smile:

Just down the road, Little Red Rideing Hood was visiting at Grandma's house. Upon going into the bedroom and seeing Grandma wearing a pair of Sony CD 3000's she said, " Grandma! What BIG ears you have."

So... back in topic:

I LOVE the Grado Rs-1 (with flat pads) but I can't reach them and the Grado Rs-60 are very good and not so distant and maybe more neutral than their queen (remember again, the flats)

I fly a lot with my ipod and the Bose noise cancelling cans. The best test was 2 weeks ago when a baby one row behind me to my immediate left cried the entire three hour flight. I truly heard nothing and was surprised to hear about it from my companion on the flight. Maybe not the best for music but my E3C Shures would still have let in the sound. I should have tested it if I had known. The bad side is that they can get warm on loner flights. Good luck

I mainly listen to bands like AFI, Metallica, Slipknot, Bad Religion, etc.
And I'm thinking about purchasing new headphones. At the time I'm undecided whether to get Grado SR-80's or Senn HD580's (maybe 590?). Which ones would you lot recommend?
