The HD590 do impress me regarding quality for the price. I am still dedicated to my CD3000, but there's a lot more to chose from in that price range. Sound is a very subjective matter, as for the HD600, I still say they are not worth the money, but that is according to my preferences. The CD3K blow them away completely, but considering price, I'd say the HD590 are a very smart choice.

The hd590's are nice sounding cans. That said,I prefer closed designs to open headphones because I like the isolation they provide.

Default SR-60 vs. PX-100

SR-60: In general, the SR-60s are sonically much better than the PX-100s, although you must deal with the oddities of Grados: "retro", if you will, aesthetics and earpieces which some believe are uncomfortable (you have to try them and make up your own mind).

PX-100: Don't get me wrong; these cans sound great and their design is top notch. They're light, comfortable, snappy looking, and come with a convenient carying case. If you want decent sound with great functionability, go with these. If you want the best sound for your buck, go with the grados.

P.S. Also check out the Senn HD 497s. LOL.

Everyone has their opinions.....

Bose: Could you explain why you think this??? The reason for my question is BOSE do make some interesting products that can serve a purpose.... But as for realy sounding good???? Not in a month of Sundays.

Reading his profile and his past posts, I think it's a pretty safe bet that he was joking.

Etymotic ER-4 series are the best things I have ever heard. A few weeks ago I wasted my money on a pair of Sony MDR-EX71LP's and uuggghhhh. What a terrible set of cans. I would urge anyone to skip these headphones right off. I couldn't hate them more. Tin can sounding and high impedance for serious volume reduction. A downgrade from the stock headphones that came with my iPod.

Anyway, the Etymotics are excellent. I got an airhead amp to go with them...and i could not be happier.
