Question to SR60 Owners (portable question)
I got my Grado's yesterday and they're great, but they don't seem the greatest for portable use. The cable is so thick and it's pretty long. I was wondering what people do with the cord when they were just walking around listening to stuff? I put my Zen in my pocket and the cord goes past my knee.

I haven't had the sr60s, but I have had the Ms1s and the sr-325s. I used them for portable use often, I just rolled them up and put them in my front or back pockets. You could try one of the twisty tie thingys to keep a certain length of the cord wrapped as not to hinder or unwrap.

I bought SR80s for use with the iPod (and later used SR225s for same for a few weeks). Never could quite come up with a system. Had to buy other phones for that use.  Sounds great, but flexibility/length issues are a killer.

I tried it once and was annoyed all day. I generally use PX200's for portable use and love them. The PX200's come in a very handy case and fold up very small. The cord length is also perfect for portable uses and I've never found them to be to long or short.

The funny thing about the Grado cord is that beyond being to long for portable use, it's a bit to short for home use.

I use a butt bag( fanny pack) that I put both My Nomad Zen Extra and the extra length of cord bundled together into. Works great.

Nothing is worse than the Grado cords. You cant roll them cos theyre so thick and they got SO MUCH MEMORY so that if you left them in a coil for a while, they retain that shape !!!! It is infuriating and nothing can be done.

Sorry about the image quality. I'm using my new $40 digicam here.
Anyway as you can maybe see I was able to shorten the Grado cord by folding it into thirds and then taking the last third of the cable and looping it over where the cable splits to run to each ear-peice and then back down again to the end. I then wrapped the top and bottom ends with rubberbands to make sure everything stays together.
The cord now runs three feet from the earpeices to the end, which is the perfect length for me. It is now no longer a hassle to jog with my Grados--I was getting sick of having to tuck the excess Grado cord into my pants whenever I went jogging. Now my Grados are the perfect workout/walkabout cans.

Eh, that's too much for just walking around. Looks kinda like a garden hose rather than a headphone cord.
