Sennheiser HD-800
I didn't want to love it but I do.
I wanted to say it is all hype, but I don't see it that way at all.
It changes the way I listen to music.

HD 555. Plus some VST and DSP effects and voila: a speaker-like sound, lucid and mellow but yet detailed and neutral: just lovely!
PS Not that it is not unattainable with other headphones, but owing to the financial crisis these are all that I have left. Yet I am fully convinced that HD 800 would work a bit better with these effects.

Clear choice from me.
No fuss, just pure effortless music performance.

W5000! I know probably not many will agree but I am being honest
HD600 is very close second.
By the way, I have owned all the headphones on the list.

My choice would of course be the Audio Technica ATH-A900's . Perfectly clear and punchy, comfortable and easy to get lost in music .

With the later added $800 limit and poll I have to change my answer to Other -> Stax SR-Lambda Signature

SA5K is the best for me, but only with a few types of songs. She's a finicky girl but I do love her!
