I'm listening to them now, playing a CD from a band called "mewithoutYou". They're really eclectic in sound and they incorporate all kinds of musical devices, harps, dijeridus, dulcimers and blend it into a kind of chanting rock with drums and guitars... I thought they would be a perfect test for the 700s.
So far the detail is amazing. The bass is present too but it's nothing I haven't heard before. Just good solid bass. The details are where it's at.
After I listen to them a while I'll give you a proper account.
I'm in love so far. Only negatives are the big microphonics problem.

Try wearing the wire up, over and behind your ears.
i'm not sure that's the best advice. i do wear them over the ears when they're bothering me when i'm walking. otherwise, i still wear them down when i'm stationary. the cable was not designed to be worn over the ear. hence it is not protected against absorption of human oils and sweat elements from constant contact with your skin. eventually, prolonged use like that might cause the cable to turn hard and peel.
On a side note, I've been reading about the C551's and how they compare favourably with the more expensive C700s - but they don't have the magic wire!! And having had the magic wire, I can never go back

EDIT: tman, from I've read about the C551's, I don't think you'd be disappointed with them in comparison with the C700s.They apparently sound very similar, and I think the main difference is the 'non-magical' wire and the size. The C551's are slightly smaller.

[oh yeah, I did see the post in the other thread where someone said the bass might be more controlled on the 551 than the 700 (although there may be less of it), so I guess that would apply.]

Sorry for the confusion. Amjiarka (who posted the comparison) had pm'd me with more detailed comparisons and I'd overlapped the comments. I'll go back and edit the post to make it less confusing
